“It bothers me more that this project, when it is attempted, is so often attempted poorly. Real empathy is obvious in a text, and I wouldn’t expect to find it in the work of authors who request “a few points for trying.” Failure is less the work of political correctness and more the evidence of a morally inadequate imagination from those who already have the stage.”
