This is young people’s lives at stake, and the morality is clear (yes, the economics regarding the Dreamers are clear, too, but if you need that to be convinced, you’re not my friend anyway). This is not an issue for people to debate in abstractions at the holiday sweaterfest, and the neoliberal left has missed the message that business as usual was suspended long ago. The saddest thing is that most of these kids I’ve taught BELIEVE in the promises of America. They may not be done waiting on the benevolence of this mess of mealy-mouthed, pontificating cowards, but I am. Fire them all.
